Blog#3- Black Lives Matter
I enjoyed this week’s readings and video. As a supporter of the BLM movement, I feel it’s important that I have “resources” I can share with individuals who don’t understand what the BLM movement represents. Here they are 😊:
I would definitely be open to teaching my students about the BLM movement.
I try to show my students that Black Lives Matter by displaying picture books and literary texts in my classroom library that have characters from diverse backgrounds my students can identify with. I have been working on my collection of diverse picture books over the past 3 years; here are a few of my most recent additions:
I would love to share these books in class! Let me know, I have no problem bringing them in to share😊😊

Thanks for your post Kelly and for sharing these resources. It would be great to bring a bunch of picture books to class and talk about how to develop lessons connected to these books around BLM. Maybe I'll bring some from my collection too:)

I enjoyed reading your blog especially as I wrote in my blog venting my frustration with explaining the message behind black lives matter to those who don't truly understand. The link you provided was very insightful and I think will be helpful when talking to others who do not understand BLM. I need to help others understand and stop getting so frustrated. Also, I am so excited about those books, love them! I also teach kindergarten and I want to go out and get those books! Let me know if you have any other recommendations.
