"Poetry is truth in its Sunday clothes. " -Joseph Roux This week, I chose to take a closer look at  20 Writers of Color Share Their Favorite Poems . As a supporter of the BLM movement, I feel it’s important that I have “resources” I can share with individuals who don’t understand what the BLM movement represents. Here they are 😊: ** The next time someone says 'all lives matter,' show them these 5 paragraphs ** I would definitely be open to teaching my students about the BLM movement.  I try to show my students that Black Lives Matter by displaying picture books and literary texts in my classroom library that have characters from diverse backgrounds my students can identify with. I have been working on my collection of diverse picture books over the past 3 years; here are a few of my most recent additions:      I would love to share these books in class! Let me know, I have no problem bringing them in to share😊😊
